For your in-person retreat, consider Asheville, North Carolina. It couldn't be in a more beautiful setting, amidst the Blue Ridge Mountains. There's a thriving art scene here, and both art and craft are both an important part of the community. There's ample and affordable conference/retreat space, close to a vibrant downtown or further out in more rural setting, and the weather is great virtually all year. No, I'm not with the Chamber of Commerce, I simply moved here six years in large part because of arts community, progressive attitude, and beauty of the area. Here's a link to get you started.
